"Fun Photo Challenge #6!"

[11:12:] Duraya Resident: Hello everyone and welcome to a new episode of our bi-weekly photo cafe.
[11:13] Duraya Resident: As with every fun photo challenge before I am again extremely curious what we will see in this round of “getting to know each other through art”!
[11:13] Duraya Resident: Last episode we discussed themes, especially focusing on those we are comfortable with and those giving us headaches.
[11:14] Duraya Resident: You found a list of themes for this challenge in the invite Kika sent out, asking you to choose two of them, one inspiring and feeling homely and one being a less pleasant task.
[11:14] Duraya Resident: We are aware this was quite an extensive requirement given the short time you had!
[11:14] Duraya Resident: BUT! Whether you managed to do both, one or none – let’s just enjoy what we have and please comment and share your own preferences in photography.
[11:17] Duraya Resident: Okay, let’s start then.
[11:20] Duraya Resident: so onceagain – please tell us why you chose that theme and if it was an easy or difficult one for you, I love it btw 🙂

[11:21] onceagain (manoji Yachvili): I want a more close up, but isn’t enough
[11:22] onceagain (manoji Yachvili): anyway I have put just because I’m lazy so this time I’ve try to do the homework

[11:24] Kika Yongho: I have a question for Once about this close up. As for me as well, this is a difficult theme (as you will see later) how long did it take for her to take this great pic? Done

[11:25] Michiel Bechir: Another question for Once. Did you only use a part of your photo, or is it in full size. Done
[11:27] onceagain (manoji Yachvili): I love square format and at the beginning I tried to directly use that format on sl because you can, but it takes a lot of time to center the focus you choose, so now I take a normal ratio and afterwards I cut

[11:29] Moki Yuitza: I was just pondering about the photo of Once, as she said that portraits and close up are hard themes for her.
[11:30] Duraya Resident: not easy to believe when you see the result 🙂
[11:30] Moki Yuitza: it is interesting because they are my favorite subjects, i love avatars and take picture of myself, this is the easiest way for me to take photos
[11:30] Moki Yuitza: horizons (landscapes) are hard as hell for me D: done

[11:33] onceagain (manoji Yachvili): what i meant to say is that I don’t like to much take photos of my avatar, not that is hard
[11:34] onceagain (manoji Yachvili): rarely I do portrait or selfie even if I do.. most of the time I prefer to take photos of myself seen from behind and from afar, I prefer animals or landscape 🙂 done

[11:36] Kika Yongho: I took 2. First the easy one…then the struggle
[11:37] Kika Yongho: Yes my proportions are a bit
[11:37] Michiel Bechir: love it in this size
[11:37] Kika Yongho: Yes this is the demonic theme applied. The title for the photo could be “Motel Californication”
[11:38] Kika Yongho: It’s taken in Dukedom sim, which has really interesting different corners
[11:38] Kika Yongho: It didn’t take much to take this one, only difficulty was the sim is a no rez one so I had to fly and shoot a few to get wings in the right position
[11:39] Kika Yongho: That’s all. But the theme was congenial, I had fun
[11:40] Michiel Bechir: c
[11:40] Duraya: yes please Michiel
[11:40] Michiel Bechir: is the sharp/unsharp effect original of done by editing? done
[11:41] Kika Yongho: Yes Michiel, the photo is edited with a few effects from the Nik Collection tools but to know details you will have to be at my workshop LOL
[11:42] Kika Yongho: Alright I tried to use DoF but it doesn’t work inworld with Firestorm, so I added with editing, done
[11:44] Kika Yongho: Alright this is the closeup.. I hated taking this one
[11:45] Duraya: so this was your nightmare homework?
[11:45] Kika Yongho: Yes it was really a difficult task – I knew it

[11:47] onceagain (manoji.yachvili): well, dear Kika I’m not so sure it’s a nightmare for you, I’ve seen others and always well done 🙂
[11:47] Kika Yongho: Well it was a pain to take it 🙂

[11:48] Duraya: I’m curious, what makes you feel like this?
[11:49] Kika Yongho: Well I dunno really it feels like the cam deforms the face, despite hitting ctrl+0 n times
[11:49] Kika Yongho: All the composition tricks don’t help, I don’t feel confident
[11:51] Duraya: maybe we can think of some helpful tricks – we can make this a new discussion
[11:51] Duraya: Michiel you have a comment
[11:51] Michiel Bechir: Is there also an emotion you wanted to show in this work, Kika?
[11:52] Kika Yongho: Good question Michiel but no; I wanted to leave it “open” so I went for neutral
[11:52] Duraya: thanks Kika and Kapaan whispered in my ear he would do some research on the topic and had some ideas.

[11:53] Kika Yongho: I think we have an incoming theme
[11:54] Duraya: yes – seems so – always welcome, Moki please
[11:55] Moki Yuitza: i was just saying to Kika that maybe i could share some tricks that i learned with time, considered that i use myself as subject for more
[11:55] Kika Yongho: That would be great Moki as your photos are incredible
[11:55] Duraya: thank you
[11:56] Moki Yuitza: then, i have found two photos in my computer, and i could share if no one else is listed next
[11:57] Moki Yuitza: first, my easy photo
[11:57] Moki Yuitza: both 2:1 more or less
[11:58] Moki Yuitza: ok, this one is one example of my easy subject
[11:58] Moki Yuitza: just me, one light and the eep
[11:59] Moki Yuitza: i spend a lot of time playing with this three elements and trying to find a “nice” composition
[11:59] Moki Yuitza: now, the second
[12:00] Moki Yuitza: maybe you all remember one of the last meeting… we all went to another sim, and you challenged us to take a photo of Duraya in a tunnel
[12:01] Moki Yuitza: well, it was really hard for me, in fact i was not able to take a photo
[12:02] Moki Yuitza: not enough time to find the right composition, and i tried to use the opportunity to work for the landscape challenge…a disaster
[12:02] Moki Yuitza: i do not show all the failed attempts, i just want to share the one i give now to Duraya, because it is one of the better…
[12:02] Michiel Bechir: i think this portrait works very well with the size/dimensions
[12:03] Moki Yuitza: this is “my concept” of landscape, i spare you all the other 1236589 attempts 😀
[12:04] Moki Yuitza: ok, not joking…. i had to find a spot, something that allows me to have a “nice” composition
[12:05] Moki Yuitza: done
