"Paparazzi!"
H.12:00 PM SLT
[The following Episode #54 will be on:
9th of March 2024]
[12:05] Kika Yongho: Good evening Paparazzi! I mean.. Photographers!
I hope you are all comfortably seated and ready to go with our bi-weekly moderated text chat now, after the party cause.. We’re gonna start now!
[12:06] Kika Yongho: To those who missed the previous part of this Episode #53 ** SPECIAL ** I can tell that we started at 10AM SLT with a 2hrs DJ set of our multi-talented Bee (Filipa Emor), who we thank heartily for the beautiful time, presence and music!
[12:06] Kika Yongho: Another special thanks, to follow, is to the party reason: our new “recycled expo”, that means a photo exhibit which has been previously opened (at Heartsong Galleries in Feb 2023), and that we re-propose to those who might have been missing it the first time!
[12:07] Kika Yongho: The photo author of these wonderful pictures that you can see all around you is Titus Palmira and the expo here is a selection from his exhibit called “To Love and Obey”! To know a little bit more about these works, you can also click on the easel over there, behind him, and take the Expo Notes!
[12:08] Kika Yongho: Thank you for being with us Titus and for the expo!
[12:09] Titus Palmira: my pleasure, thanks for showing the images, its nice (for me) to see them again!
[12:09] Kika Yongho: In the notes, Titus explains a bit about this exhibit:
“It deals with themes of love, seduction, dominance and submission and female led relationships. All the images are in black and white and are mostly taken from a reportage perspective”.
[12:10] Kika Yongho: At this point, those who don’t know yet Titus, might like to know a little bit more about him..
[12:11] Kika Yongho: Again in the note, he writes for us:
“Titus Palmira has been on the grid for over 14 years and active in the Second Life artistic Community for the last 8. He has exhibited his work many times across multiple galleries with subjects as diverse as erotica, existential angst and monochrome dreamscapes amongst others.”
[12:12] Kika Yongho: But !!
[12:12] Kika Yongho: Titus is not only a photographer:
“He is also know for his creation of the “Skrunda” sims. His fascination with modern “ghost towns” motivated him to create sims based on abandoned towns in Europe and Japan, where human life human and experience leaves a trace on the fabric of the long-forgotten buildings”.
[12:12] Kika Yongho: (with one t)
[12:13] Kika Yongho: You all remember Skrunda, Hashima…
[12:13] Kika Yongho: You can see more of Titus’s work on Flickr:

[12:14] Kika Yongho: You can take the notes in the easel to have all of this on a notecard 🙂
[12:15] Kika Yongho: Much to see, uh!!! But now.. We also want to see your photos, Paparazzi! Did you do your “homeworks”? … Still a few minutes to edit your photos (if you took them at the party!) cause I am gonna give the word now to Josephine to find out what you have been doing for these 2 hours! I am roger and out, please Josephine let’s start the.. Paparazzi time!
[12:16] Josephine Delvalle: Dear photographers and paparazzi, welcome to a new and different chat.
[12:16] Sio Skytower wants Paparazzi tag
[12:16] Josephine Delvalle: We asked you to switch sides today. Away from artistic, designed photography towards brutal photography.
[12:17] Josephine Delvalle: Thanks to everyone who accepted this challenge and is still willing to show the results here.
[12:17] Josephine Delvalle: I would first like to ask everyone to present their photo.
[12:17] Josephine Delvalle: By answering the following questions:
[12:18] Josephine Delvalle: Why did you take this photo?
[12:18] Josephine Delvalle: What could be the headline for this in the magazine it was sold to?
[12:18] Josephine Delvalle: How did you feel about this task?
[12:20] Josephine Delvalle: How is the brave paparazzo/ paparazza, who will start with his/her photo?
[12:20] A. (ava.darkheart): c
[12:20] Josephine Delvalle: Ava
[12:21] A. (ava.darkheart): ok, so i can start if you want :p
[12:22] Josephine Delvalle: Why did you take this photo?
[12:23] A. (ava.darkheart): I took this picture cause Cecilia landed late at the end of the party and i like that everyone feels included 😀
[12:23] A. (ava.darkheart): and the title of the magazine could be :
[12:23] A. (ava.darkheart): “We waited for her, and then she appeared more radiant than ever!” Done
[12:24] Josephine Delvalle: How did you feel about that task, Ava?
[12:25] A. (ava.darkheart): easy, i started to take sneaky pictures/portraits long time ago, so it feels all natural to do it again
[12:25] Josephine Delvalle: And let me say: it is still a bit arty
[12:25] A. (ava.darkheart): it is? It’s close-up, but i did not intent any artistic way here, no edit, just a big zoom.
[12:29] Josephine Delvalle: Next brave paparazzo please
[12:29] Benny (benny.vortex): c
[12:29] Josephine Delvalle: Benny?
[12:31] Josephine Delvalle: Why did you take this photo?
[12:32] Benny (benny.vortex): ok, so viewing Titus’s pieces earlier today, it made me think about the other side of the coin as such. So, from the initial look at this image one it may appear that A has taken the submissive role (body language wise), but as we all know, that is not always the case.
[12:33] Benny (benny.vortex): I think i caught her just before she started dancing. Done
[12:34] Josephine Delvalle: ah, there is maybe something discovered..
[12:34] Josephine Delvalle: What could be the headline for this in the magazine it was sold to?
[12:35] Benny (benny.vortex): hmm I haven’t thought that far ahead, anyone any thoughts? Done
[12:35] Josephine Delvalle: anyone ready to help Benny?
[12:35] Kika Yongho: c
[12:35] A. (ava.darkheart): c
[12:35] Josephine Delvalle: Kika, please
[12:36] Kika Yongho: I would like to hear the title from Ava and from Matt too , to compare if possible? 😀 done
[12:36] ᴍʌᴛᴛ (matthsuogan): c
[12:37] Josephine Delvalle: nods, there you go, Ava
[12:40] A. (ava.darkheart): Thanks so much Benny, i got the laugh of the day. Earlier i wondered who took the picture and am so glad to know… It is super funny feeling you had about the interpretation and the view you have about us. That make me think about the power to make images say what one wants relies on the ability to manipulate various aspects of image production and presentation to influence viewers’ perception and interpretation.
This includes selectively choosing images, framing, staging, editing, retouching, and contextualizing.
This ability underscores the importance of critical thinking when consuming images and visual media, etc… but here you chose the angle of Matt being “above” and in the blur like a puppet master somehow it’s fit your interpretation… That is really fun and great on this way. In reality, we’re so far of this 😀 so with your view Benny i would give this title “Emprise”, but with mine, i’ll choose ‘No matter the size” Done
[12:41] Josephine Delvalle: well done, Ava and here is Matt
[12:42] ᴍʌᴛᴛ (matthsuogan): your close-up shot with the interplay of shadows and light, along with the subtle blur, is really captivating. Nicely done Benny.
[12:42] Benny (benny.vortex): c.
[12:42] Josephine Delvalle: What headline would you type, Matt?
[12:44] ᴍʌᴛᴛ (matthsuogan): Exploring the beauty of shadows close-up
[12:44] Josephine Delvalle: Benny?
[12:44] Kika Yongho: c
[12:46] Benny (benny.vortex): thank you A and Matt. Its interesting sometimes how the poses we use in SL can drive images. I hope you know I’m making no judgments about what I believe your personal relationship is. I simply liked the angle, and felt the photo. Much love. That felt like a mic drop but it wasn’t. Done
[12:48] Josephine Delvalle: Just the last question to Benny, How did you feel about this task?
[12:49] Benny (benny.vortex): well it didn’t really feel like a task to be honest. Initially I chose them as they were the only ones standing still, then it grew from there. Done
[12:50] Josephine Delvalle: So, no time to think and feel? Guess that is what paparazzi do.
[12:50] Benny (benny.vortex): Oh yes for sure, I mean, they were standing still so I had the time to think and feel. Done
[12:50] Josephine Delvalle: Thank you Benny
[12:50] Josephine Delvalle: Kika
[12:50] Kika Yongho: Violette sent me her photo she took at the party with her comments, I can display it on her behalf and send her answers. done
[12:51] Kika Yongho: Violette says about it : “my title for the photo was “another wild party on the beach ! The Bee stung again !” and it took it because i thought she was the queen of the party, I felt good about the theme because it reminded me when i had leisure to paparize WL visitors ^;^ loved it 😀 ” Done
[12:52] Josephine Delvalle: Ok, any comments or questions, if not, any brave paparazzo/paparazza want to go?
[12:54] Sio Skytower: c
[12:54] Josephine Delvalle: Go, Sio, go
[12:54] Sio Skytower: I was thinking along the lines of “red skies at night, bee’s delight” to be honest
[12:56] Sio Skytower: I was very much thinking it’s a cover shot – of a day in the life of a DJ, capturing her before/during/after experience and this clearly is ‘during’
[12:57] Josephine Delvalle: Why did you take that photo?
[12:58] A. (ava.darkheart): c
[12:58] Sio Skytower: I loved the motion of the DJ booth with Bee in the space and how she was above us all – I DJ too and always love taking the perspective of the person making the mood, she has great energy with her dance
[12:58] Josephine Delvalle: What could be the headline for this in the magazine it was sold to?
[12:58] Sio Skytower: So I’m always watching/seeing what others do for inspiration
[12:59] Sio Skytower: Hmm likely a bio of Bee and something like “Welcome to the Beehive of sound with DJ Bee”
[12:59] Josephine Delvalle: How did you feel about this task?
[13:01] Sio Skytower: a tad unsure, then when I saw others posting, the ideas start to flow and I went with first instinct – go to the DJ booth and see what catches my eye, I spent 5 minutes directly above her for a different perspective then to this angle and liked it a lot
[13:01] Sio Skytower: I try to let the image tell me what’s right, if I force an idea, I typically don’t care for it
[13:02] Josephine Delvalle: 🙂 thank you, Sio
[13:02] Josephine Delvalle: Ava, please
[13:04] A. (ava.darkheart): I really like Sio’s picture, it’s even more close than a journalistic picture than paparazzi, i like how she immortalized the motion and it really could be a review of a great party in a music magazine or so. Done
[13:04] Josephine Delvalle: I agree, Ava
[13:05] Benny (benny.vortex): c
[13:05] Josephine Delvalle: Benny, you are the very last comment
[13:06] Benny (benny.vortex): great! Just a quickie…. I like the way bee is pointing to moki in the dance and moki is pointing to someone else off screen. done
[13:06] Josephine Delvalle: there is maybe a new story
[13:07] Josephine Delvalle: Thank you all who took part in this little experiment.
[13:07] Josephine Delvalle: We will see you with a new topic in 2 weeks.
[13:08] Josephine Delvalle: Pls take time to enjoy Titus’s photos and maybe take the chance to to talk with him now
[13:08] Ⴆҽҽ (filipa.emor): Was lovely, thank you and congrats Titus
[13:08] Clementine Rosca: great discussions, shares, engagement. thank you
[13:08] Kika Yongho: Thank you Bee for the music journey and Titus for the visual one
[13:08] Kika Yongho: Josephine for moderating and everyone who attended
[13:09] Josephine Delvalle: Looking forward to see you all again, next episode 9th March.
