[12:09] Kika Yongho: Hello Photographers!
How have you been? As you can see we have been.. busy! But here we go again, back with you, alive and kicking!
[12:09] Kika Yongho: We hope you will enjoy the new location, skilfully built by my dearest Violette! Isn’t it incredible? You can take your time and explore it all in the next days and all the photos that you take can be submitted also in our Flickr group.

[12:10] Kika Yongho: Speaking of photos.. We started exactly one year ago a recurrent Expo, called “In The Spot”, that is a quarterly display of one single seasonal photo. The current photo is by Violette, and it is our Winter photo!
[12:11] Kika Yongho: We are going to display every 3 months a photo representing the season indicated in the expo schedule below:
Spring = April->June
Summer = July->September
Autumn = October->December
Winter = January->March
[12:12] Kika Yongho: We will assign the next season’s photo to one of you photographers, and the work will be displayed for 3 months time on the sim, group and website!

[12:12] Kika Yongho: So.. Who’s gonna be our Spring representative photographer? You can hit my IM box to spontaneously volunteer starting now! Otherwise a.. “volunteer” will be chosen by us and announced at the next episode!
[12:14] Kika Yongho: And now… Our 2023 news for the Photo Cafe’!
[12:15] Kika Yongho: First of all, let me mention – again – our wonderful staff (never change a winning team!). You can find more info about us all on the Staff page of our website.
[12:15] Kika Yongho: Duraya is our “director” aka chat moderator. She will take care of the smooth flow of the open discussions.
Don’t forget this is a moderated chat so please use the routine of typing “c” for comment, “q” for question (or “r” to withdraw your call) in nearby chat and wait for your turn to speak when your name is announced by our moderator!

[12:17] Kika Yongho: Kapaan is our “photography director” aka our photographer’s eye. He is working behind the scene with Duraya to prepare the material for the meetings. If you need any tech info or advice, you can refer to them to remove your doubt and provide info where possible!
[12:18] Kika Yongho: DaneAlbion is our “screenwriter” aka the man of letters. He is the one who is taking care of the nice crafting of our texts and chat transcripts.
[12:19] Kika Yongho: Last but not least there is your “producer”, Kika Yongho aka me myself and I! What did the Romans do for the Photo Cafe’? Well.. I’d say a bit of this and a bit of that, basically keeping all the things straights (or bend them where needed).
[12:22] Kika Yongho: Also, take your time to explore and photograph around the new land! We will be always open for you to visit and enjoy the landscape. You can post all the photos taken here – or related to our discussions (fun photo challenges, etc.) – on our Flickr group.
[12:22] Kika Yongho: Second news: we moved the Photo Cafe’ clock 1H ahead, to meet some participants’ requests! So the new calendar for our discussions is: every other Saturday (starting today 11th of March, 2023) at H. 12.00PM noon SLT until 1PM. You can check all the dates on our google calendar online. We hope you will be happy with the new schedule!
[12:23] Kika Yongho: So, lots of news so far! But what is to be expected about the chats? We will still have moderated text discussions, to allow anyone to participate and follow easily (native speakers and who might need to use a translator). Also, the chat transcript will be this way available also on our website for those who can’t make it to the live meeting!
[12:24] Kika Yongho: On our website you can find our complete history (our roots go back to the 11th of September, 2021!) in the chat logs, and our most popular “formats” for the episodes that we adopted so far and that – due to popularity – we’re gonna propose to you again also in 2023. Plus some new or adapted ideas that we are sure will be to your liking as well!
[12:24] Kika Yongho: In 2023 we will surely see again:
The “Photo BBQ” (that was: share a photo to be “grilled” by the audience with honest and constructive critique!)
“20 Questions to..” (our beautiful interviews with fellow photographers: 10 questions on the house + 10 from the audience)
“Fun Photo Challenge” (a themed photo task/homework for the participants, to be shared and discussed in the following episode).
[12:25] Kika Yongho: About the new formats.. I would not say too much right now not to spoil the surprises we have for you! But I will mention that we are gonna reprise our “Workshops” (although in a brand new formula!). So if there is a skill, theme, competence you have and you’d like to share with your fellow photographers, feel free to contact me in IM, and we will arrange your workshop together!

[12:27] Duraya: Well, it has been some time since we last met and I see some new fellow photographers joined in too, great to have you all here today!
[12:28] Duraya: Kika already did half of my job, reminding you of the chat routine using c, q and r and waiting for me to call you when it’s your turn to speak.

[12:28] Duraya: What amazing news do you have, what are you working at, what new skills did you develop and what projects are you up to?
[12:28] Duraya: And of course what do you expect the cafe to contribute to your development as a photographer?
[12:29] Duraya: Because although, as Kika pointed out, we have some things planned we will always welcome suggestions from your side to keep this event tailored to the needs of it’s attendees.
[12:30] Duraya: Keep in mind this is OUR cafe, everyone participating is a valued and important part of it and your contribution is relevant for our all success with it.

[12:42] Kika Yongho: Yes, our Flickr group accepts photos taken here or related to the Cafe’ sessions. It’s moderated so they are subject to approval.

[12:48] Nardis (n4rd1s): at the moment due to my broken back, my short term project are 1 to keep my head over water, 2 to keep as close as possible of the people who were so kind to befriend me. 3 read because I can barely do anything else, at the Moment : Roberto Saviano ( Gridalo) who is able to make pictures with words.

[12:52] Duraya: is the exhibition on your place still up Loony? Want to share what it is about?
[12:53] Loony Carabosse – Moretto (louna.perl): We have two exhibitions at the moment: Sofo (Bachi Cheng) RL paintings that are amazing and also pictures from all of us, depicting our own language idioms
[12:54] Duraya: I loved the language idioms!
