"HALP! Picture in distress!"
[The following Episode #28 will be on:
Sat, the 29th of October H.11.00 AM SLT!]
[11:06] Duraya Resident: Hello everyone and welcome to our bi-weekly photo cafe with another challenging topic: “S.O.S. Photo!”
[11:08] Duraya Resident: I hope some of you were courageous and trusting enough to bring an example of your work you would like to get feedback on 🙂
[11:08] Duraya Resident: But first Kika will update us on what we have in mind concerning the workshops that had been peacefully asleep since this summer – time for waking them up!
[11:08] Kika Yongho: Hello Photographer friends!
[11:09] Kika Yongho: Today we are going to talk about the reprise of our… workshops! (YAY!) I have prepared a new worksheet, preloaded with the list of the ones that were missing to be realized, and this is the link to see the current “state of the art”:
https://tinyurl.com/workshops-22-23
[11:11] Kika Yongho: While you take your time to open the web URL, I will remind to the new faces and distracted people: what are the workshops? Basically, shared knowledge: each of you can talk (30 mins, 1 hour or as long is needed) about a topic where we feel we could share our knowledge with the others.
[11:11] Kika Yongho: I will now quickly list who were our previously unreleased workshop speakers: Kika (OMG that’s me!), Jaminda, Duraya, Moki and Onceagain! So, the first action is: delete the ones you can’t do anymore and… Fill in the new workshop offers for those who aren’t included in this list!
[11:13] Kika Yongho: You can add one or more workshop, talk about different topics of your interest or make 2 episodes of a big topic.. Take example of what is already listed there to fill in the columns from B to F: your name, title and short summary of your workshop, eventual notes and duration.
[11:13:37] Kika Yongho: For the column G, you can already propose a date+time for it, or you can talk to me and arrange one together, trying not to overlap to our events calendar:
https://tinyurl.com/PhotoCafeCalendar
(and possibly other major events). Keep in mind that we can have a few workshops in October – November, than we will reprise in 2023 after the Christmas holidays, so no rush or.. RUSH!!!
[11:14:11] Kika Yongho: Any question feel free to IM me
[11:14:39] Duraya Resident: Thank you Kika!
[11:15:11] Duraya Resident: Before we start the main agenda let me share a few thoughts.
[11:15:30] Duraya Resident: Presenting one’s work can feel like a striptease of the soul.
[11:15:46] Duraya Resident: I never came across an artist who was completely content with what they created – which is a good thing, since it lets us strive for further development.
[11:16:09] Duraya Resident: So hints how to achieve that goal should be welcome and our mind will willingly agree to such an enterprise.
[11:16:39] Duraya Resident: But our pictures are a bit like our offspring too and of course we want them to get nothing but acknowledged at the same time!
[11:16:57] Duraya Resident: Hence presenting one of your shots here is a brave thing to do.
[11:17:15] Duraya Resident: It earns our respect and requires sensitive feedback from our side. Please keep in mind that, whatever anyone says will be a suggestion and it is up to you how many you take up, if any.
[11:17:36] Duraya Resident: We will do that with heart 😉
[11:17:50] Duraya Resident: Let’s jump!
[11:18:12] Duraya Resident: Please remember the c, q, r – routine and write ‚done‘ in open when you are finished.
Please use c for indicating you want to present a picture too!
[11:19:17] Duraya Resident: Sooooo … what did you choose to present and why?
And most important, what do you need feedback on?
[11:20:25] Kapaan Resident: c
[11:21:06] Duraya Resident: go ahead Kapaan
[11:23:32] Kapaan Resident: I have been spending a lot of time working with one of the AI tools. I have discovered a few things and I wanted to understand how everyone would have described what they see. I want to understand if my attributes for the image convey my intention. This is titled “Obscure Sorrows”
[11:23:51] Duraya Resident: so why did you chose this picture and what support would you like to get?
[11:24:35] Kapaan Resident: [11:23] Duraya: so why did you chose this picture and what support would you like to get? <– I am trying to understand what people see, vs what I see and what the AI understood I was asking for. I hope this makes sense
[11:26] Cяᴀvєη ᴋᴏsʞɪɴᴇɴ ™ (craven.koskinen): c
[11:27] Duraya: this isn’t an easy question – it does relate to what you had in mind and as you told us it was ‘obscure sorrows’ it’s hard to tell you what I would have seen in it before I knew
[11:27] Duraya: yes Craven, please comment
[11:27] ϮƗ Vɪᴏʟᴇᴛᴛᴇ Mᴏʀɴɪɴɢꜱᴛᴀʀ ƗϮ (violette.rembrandt): c
[11:29] Cяᴀvєη ᴋᴏsʞɪɴᴇɴ ™ (craven.koskinen): I see something like terminator meets the sith. It’s like this one black machine with some sort of clothes in it? and a humanoid looking person not looking directly at it. behind them is a bunch of ruins it seems. in one way they look like they are on the same side but one is looking at the ruins and one is looking away which sort of makes it look like the machine is watching the other humanoid one feels sad or guilty about it
[11:30] Duraya: they should, they destroyed everything 😉
[11:31] Cяᴀvєη ᴋᴏsʞɪɴᴇɴ ™ (craven.koskinen): done
[11:32] Duraya: thank you.
[11:32] Duraya: Violette, your comment please
[11:34] ϮƗ Vɪᴏʟᴇᴛᴛᴇ Mᴏʀɴɪɴɢꜱᴛᴀʀ ƗϮ (violette.rembrandt): I really do like it a lot, I’m a bit scared of war matters and natural catastrophe so it speaks to me a lot, i would have called it “The end of Time” it is what it does, inspire me, there is death and destruction all around and seems the Sun leaves the planet , it’s cold and the figure looks non-human… for me it is clearly the end of civilisation
[11:34] ϮƗ Vɪᴏʟᴇᴛᴛᴇ Mᴏʀɴɪɴɢꜱᴛᴀʀ ƗϮ (violette.rembrandt): done
[11:35] Duraya: thank you Violette
[11:36] Ciambi Bluebird: c
[11:37] Duraya: Ciambi please comment
[11:37] Ciambi Bluebird: Im not talking about the meaning of this work, but I talk about what I see
[11:38] Ciambi Bluebird: I see in the background something like a watercolor painting
[11:38] Ciambi Bluebird: and in the foreground, the 2 figures, more like illustrations, was it intentional?
[11:41] Kapaan: Ciambi, no it was not. I was working on what I had in mind over a series of images. This one specifically felt like my intention in the end. I had one figure in mind. But it made me wonder why the second figure was added. Also, the contrast between what looks like machine and what looks like humanoid. But I doubt either are.
[11:41] Ciambi Bluebird: ok ty, the result is good, done
[11:41] Kapaan: Thank you
[11:42] Cяᴀvєη ᴋᴏsʞɪɴᴇɴ ™ (craven.koskinen): q
[11:42] Duraya: okay Craven please
[11:43] Cяᴀvєη ᴋᴏsʞɪɴᴇɴ ™ (craven.koskinen): what are the ruins?
[11:44] Kapaan: I love scenes with dystopia. I am always appreciating the beauty of the broken. I specifically asked for that as well as the more sinister sky to create a feeling for sorrow from a human perspective.
[11:49] Michiel Bechir: c
[11:49] Duraya: yes Michiel
[11:49] Michiel Bechir: I would like to comment on the previous work
[11:50] Michiel Bechir: I like the robotic effect of the creatures bye the red elements, it looks like eyes
[11:50] Michiel Bechir: it feels like half human half machine
[11:50] Michiel Bechir: done
[11:51] Duraya: thank you Michiel
[11:51] DaneAlbion: c
[11:51] Duraya: speak Dane please
[11:52] DaneAlbion: the brightness on the horizon feels like it is moving towards us, that it will drive away this darkness and reminds me that dark times will pass
[11:52] DaneAlbion: done
[11:54] Duraya: I agree – it may be sad and a bit dark but not depressing – as Kapaan said, there is a certain beauty in these scenes
[11:54] Kika Yongho: c
[11:55] Duraya: Kika – please show what you brought
[11:56] Kika Yongho: This is not a recent photo, from a series
[11:57] Kika Yongho: the idea of the series was a path from a “darker” mood to a lighter one and this was the final one. Although the series was not a linear path but a “circle”
[11:58] Kika Yongho: This photo never convinced me for the mixture of light and darkness. Opinions? Title was “Free Yourself”
[11:58] Kika Yongho: thank you
[11:59] ϮƗ Vɪᴏʟᴇᴛᴛᴇ Mᴏʀɴɪɴɢꜱᴛᴀʀ ƗϮ (violette.rembrandt): c
[11:59] Duraya: Violette is next
[12:03] ϮƗ Vɪᴏʟᴇᴛᴛᴇ Mᴏʀɴɪɴɢꜱᴛᴀʀ ƗϮ (violette.rembrandt): i have seen the evolution of that photo a bit.
[12:03] ϮƗ Vɪᴏʟᴇᴛᴛᴇ Mᴏʀɴɪɴɢꜱᴛᴀʀ ƗϮ (violette.rembrandt): i like the outcome a lot, the blue wings caught the attention on the topic, “flying” -> being free
[12:04] ϮƗ Vɪᴏʟᴇᴛᴛᴇ Mᴏʀɴɪɴɢꜱᴛᴀʀ ƗϮ (violette.rembrandt): so the initial idea is totally coming out of that photo
[12:04] ϮƗ Vɪᴏʟᴇᴛᴛᴇ Mᴏʀɴɪɴɢꜱᴛᴀʀ ƗϮ (violette.rembrandt): and the duality of the figure also says a lot
[12:04] ϮƗ Vɪᴏʟᴇᴛᴛᴇ Mᴏʀɴɪɴɢꜱᴛᴀʀ ƗϮ (violette.rembrandt): we’re often trying to free ourself from our own selves ^^
[12:05] ϮƗ Vɪᴏʟᴇᴛᴛᴇ Mᴏʀɴɪɴɢꜱᴛᴀʀ ƗϮ (violette.rembrandt): this photo always spoke to me from the very first start i really do love it a lot and i think that the result is just superb
[12:05] ϮƗ Vɪᴏʟᴇᴛᴛᴇ Mᴏʀɴɪɴɢꜱᴛᴀʀ ƗϮ (violette.rembrandt): done
[12:05] Kika Yongho: Aww thank you my dearest ♥
[12:05] Duraya: thank you Violette
[12:06] Duraya smiles – seems you have to make your peace with your picture Kika
[12:07] Kapaan: Its a lovely image 🙂 Well done
[12:07] Kika Yongho: Thank you .. I am very critical yes
[12:07] Duraya: as there are no more comments, I will close the official part now
[12:08] Duraya: thanks all for your contributions
[12:08] Duraya: Hope to see you all on 29th for the next cafe!
