[ The following Episode #2 will be on:
Sat, the 25th of Sep H.11.00 AM SLT! ]
[11:11] Kika Yongho: As we start and take place … Other than reminding our News board to click to keep updated on next events… I will introduce you briefly the hosts of our Photo Cafe’ Beach Lounge project !
[11:12] Kika Yongho: Duraya and Kapaan! Other than being great SL photographers and also teachers for Photo course, I can vouch!, they will be hosting our bi-weekly chat about SL Photography!
[11:12] Kika Yongho: The chat will be held in text !
[11:13] Kika Yongho: And for tech details as moderation and stuff. Please Duraya and Kapaan 🙂
[11:14] Duraya: first of all thanks Kika for the great idea to bring us together in this lovely Café
[11:15] Duraya: We are glad you could join us today and we hope we can provide a framework for interesting discussions here.
[11:16] Duraya: as stated in the invite any level of experience is welcome
[11:16] Duraya: What develops is open and depends on our shared interests. So first step – and that‘s today‘s target – is to get to know each other first.
[11:17] Duraya: We decided to organize discussions a bit and I will try to moderate. If we feel it‘s not necessary we can drop that over time though.
[11:17] Duraya: So for now – if you have a comment type c in local, for a question you type q – I will see that on my screen and ask you to share what you have to say when it is your turn. I f you want to withdraw a comment or question type r.
[11:18] Duraya: Please type ‘done’ when you are finished.
[11:18] Duraya: So whether you are experienced or a beginner, please don‘t be shy to contribute.
[11:19] Duraya: Well let‘s start, shall we?
[11:19] Duraya: To make it easier a few points of interest: what got you interested in photography, what is your preferred genre how did your sl photography develop, what do you want to achieve in future, what do you expect from this bi-weekly gathering or – just say what you want or are curious about!
[11:20] Kika Yongho: c
[11:21] Duraya: ahh – and first one is Kika – Kika please
[11:22] Kika Yongho: Alright so I wanted to share my (in)experience in photography as I am still developing the skills & style so my favorite genre is not there yet 🙂 Mostly I take photos of avatars in a scene. My goal is to build an own defined style! Done
[11:22] ϮƗ Luᴄɪꜰᴇʀ ƗϮ (samael.morningstar): q Ok so are there some quick an easy editing tools out there ?
[11:22] ϮƗ Luᴄɪꜰᴇʀ ƗϮ (samael.morningstar): c I just dont have the time or patience to learn photoshop or gimp
[11:22] Duraya: uhm – Luci could you wait for me to tell you it’s your turn – we will get a hellish confusion otherwise
[11:22] ϮƗ Luᴄɪꜰᴇʀ ƗϮ (samael.morningstar): I will try not to just jump right in. I thought there was a prize
[11:22] Ana (anastasia.yanwu): c
[11:22] Duraya: thank you 😉
[11:24] Michiel Bechir: Do you play with the settings of your viewer, Kika during the taking of the picture?
[11:24] Chemsia: 1st, thanks for hosting this creative event, Duraya, Kappan, Kika!.. For me photo was a bit of a fun hobby (I think it still mostly is).. but it developed over the years specially in SL.. playing with the camera angles, the pictures, lens forces .. windlights… I though that was plenty to handle already then I found post processing possibilities. mixing, blending, some visual effects too.. distortions…. I guess all in all.. picture for me became more than snapping a moment.. it was about adding to it and playing with the result to bring out more out of it.. an added atmosphere say!
[11:24] ϮƗ Luᴄɪꜰᴇʀ ƗϮ (samael.morningstar): Im just wondering what editing tools people use, because I was looking for something simple
[11:25] Michiel Bechir: I can recommend Topaz studio myself to edit
[11:25] DaneAlbion: c
[11:25] Michiel Bechir: but it is an offline tool
[11:25] Kika Yongho: Good tip 🙂
[11:26] onceagain (manoji.yachvili): HI use photoshop and Hipstamatic
[11:26] Duraya: is your question answered Lucifer?
[11:26] ϮƗ Luᴄɪꜰᴇʀ ƗϮ (samael.morningstar): I will look into it, thank you. Yes I learned two new tools to try
[11:26] Duraya: maybe we can prepare a list with tools for the next time – would that help?
[11:27] ϮƗ Luᴄɪꜰᴇʀ ƗϮ (samael.morningstar): Any help would be appreciated
[11:27] ϮƗ Luᴄɪꜰᴇʀ ƗϮ (samael.morningstar): thanks
[11:27] cazzie (caz.lobo): C
[11:27] Duraya: okay – then Ana pleas – and the others, don’t forget to type your c and q and wait for your turn – thanks a lot
[11:27] Ana (anastasia.yanwu): When starting i would use Lumipro to help assist with my photos before I used photoshop. It helps with lighting, can have a pose stand anywhere, even if you can’t rez, and projectors. It is a good tool to have if you don’t want to edit outside of SL and would like to take a quality shot within SL. They have a website and group that are always helpful and even have monthly contest. I also join groups on Flickr if you want to share your photos. I would watch others photos and try to figure out what they did to pull into my work.
[11:27] Ana (anastasia.yanwu): done
[11:28] Duraya: thank you Ana
[11:28] Duraya: Dane next please
[11:28] DaneAlbion: a comment on editing software, for me its Gimp, while its not user friendly i do think it worth persevering with it or something similar and there are so many tips and guides on YouTube its easier than you might think to start making progress
[11:28] DaneAlbion: done
[11:29] Duraya: thank you – I think Gimp is great but not for the lazy ones – including me ;-P
[11:29] Duraya: Cazzie is next
[11:30] Violette (violette.rembrandt): c
[11:31] cazzie (caz.lobo): I can’t say I really have a genre. Been in SL 15years but I only began taking photos in June this year. But I enjoy finding unusual shots. Nature, landscapes, and enjoy putting pictures together….paying attention to light and shadow and angles. 🙂 I just have fun creating. :).I only use windlight to date.:)
[11:31] cazzie (caz.lobo): done.
[11:32] Ana (anastasia.yanwu): c
[11:32] Duraya: and Violette is next on my list
[11:33] Violette (violette.rembrandt): Thank you Duraya ^^
[11:33] Violette (violette.rembrandt): What got me interested in Photography -> i met some great artist and wanted to try catching up to them
My preferred genre is -> monochrome portrait but i like to try whatever i can
what do i want to achieve -> developing enough skill to make mesh art and create a SIM
What i expect from this gathering -> learning from great artist
And i don’t edit my photo for now (sadly i lack of knowledge when it comes to Gimp or Photoshop)
[11:34] Deklann: c
[11:34] Duraya: thanks Violette – there are really much easier ways to edite than Gimp or photoshop and you will get some hints so you can start
[11:35] Duraya: Are you done Violette?
[11:35] Violette (violette.rembrandt): nods
[11:35] Duraya: thanks, Ana is next
[11:35] Ana (anastasia.yanwu): I love taking photos of random people at random places. I will than photoshop them and send them to them in hopes to make them smile, It is just a way to pass the time. The other thing I love to do is take landscape photos. I tend to use custom WL but build off of satomi’s Windlights (foxcity creator). I have met some amazing people taking random photos. I love rich colors the most. Now my favorite thing to do are overlays in photoshops to add that extra touch.
[11:36] Ana (anastasia.yanwu): I have tried using other photo edit systems but always end back up with my cs3 photoshop. It’s ancient but does the job
[11:36] Ana (anastasia.yanwu): done
[11:36] Duraya: thank you
[11:37] Duraya: now it’s Deklann’s turn
[11:37] Deklann: I belong to the very beginner’s category. I just wanted to add a name to the basic programs one can use to get started. I use paint.NET for a quick edition of my pictures, mostly not sl ones. It could be an entry for people just willing to take their first steps.
[11:37] Deklann: And when you find out that program is not sufficient, then you might be ready for the upper levels.
[11:38] Duraya: a great hint thank you
[11:38] Deklann: On sl and photography, I am admirative of people able to give life to a scene, especially with a work on lights. I cannot say i ahve any goal myself, but learning and enjoying art is always on my list.
[11:39] Deklann: Done, thank you.
[11:39] Kika Yongho smiles at the nice contributions
[11:39] Duraya: thank you
[11:39] Duraya: yes – big smile
[11:39] Duraya: no one on my list now
[11:40] Duraya: I want to share some about myself
[11:40] Duraya: I hate photography
[11:40] Duraya: hehe
[11:40] Duraya: at least rl one
[11:40] Duraya: my dad always took pictures of us and it was annoying
[11:40] Kika Yongho awws 😛
[11:40] DaneAlbion: 🙂
[11:41] Duraya: this spring – after the course I gave together with Kapaan (me only moderating) I started my own journey
[11:41] Duraya: photography is very emotional for me
[11:41] Duraya: it makes me share my feelings and it lets me explore myself
[11:42] Duraya: in the process of taking pictures and editing I meet myself in a way
[11:42] Duraya: meanwhile I love it
[11:42] Duraya: and well – I want to get better
[11:42] Duraya: 😉
[11:42] Duraya: done
[11:44] Ana (anastasia.yanwu): c
[11:44] Duraya: yes Ana 🙂
[11:44] Ana (anastasia.yanwu): i hate love hate relationship with photography. I love taking photos in RL and SL but find myself getting burnt out quickly. Take a break and go back.
[11:45] Ana (anastasia.yanwu): I find if I get into SL photos im tired of RL and vice versa
[11:45] Ana (anastasia.yanwu): i have found I don’t like commission pieces so by stopping to do those It has helped. Does anyone else get that way?
[11:45] Ana (anastasia.yanwu): done
[11:46] Duraya: anyone wants to answer Ana?
[11:46] DaneAlbion: yes sometimes the frustration of not being able to get the pic i had in mind can wear me down too
[11:47] Ana (anastasia.yanwu): nods
[11:47] Duraya nods
[11:47] Violette (violette.rembrandt): i can’t stand the frustration so i can stay hours till i shot the photo i imagined
[11:48] Violette (violette.rembrandt): and Kika can tell about this ‘^^
[11:48] DaneAlbion: i dropped Flickr for that reason, it was driving obsession
[11:48] Ana (anastasia.yanwu): I’ve thought about doing that
[11:48] Duraya: from my own short experience I can only recommend to drop an idea that doesn’t work and take it up later – sometimes it has to develop
[11:49] Ana (anastasia.yanwu): good advice
[11:50] Duraya: okay – any ideas what could support you in your work – we had the tools – but there is more – models, backdrops, technique
[11:50] Kika Yongho: c
[11:50] Duraya: yes Kika 🙂
[11:51] Kika Yongho: Models are always good .. Sometimes I have an idea and can’t find someone to pose .. It would be great to have a group to rely to for that 😀
[11:51] Kika Yongho: done*
[11:51] Duraya nods – put me on your list 🙂
[11:51] Ana (anastasia.yanwu): c
[11:51] Kika Yongho: yes that was the typo really 😀
[11:51] Duraya: hihi
[11:52] Duraya: is anyone working with scenes they build?
[11:52] Violette (violette.rembrandt): Yes Duraya i do sometimes
[11:52] Kika Yongho nods
[11:53] Chemsia: I do too!
[11:53] Chemsia: c
[11:53] Duraya: oh Ana, sorry I only see your name now
[11:53] Ana (anastasia.yanwu): If I cant find a pose i will use anypose and create one with myself. You can save the pose and export it from anypose and load into a block to make a pose ball. Great way to get the look you want AND can save you lindens from buying what you dont want. I have used Alts for models just because it is easier than trying to find someone. I love building scenes for backdrops but also use backdrop city sometimes for quick photos. You can ask Arc, i’ve spent hours creating a scene for one photo.
[11:54] Ana (anastasia.yanwu): ok done
[11:54] Duraya: thank you and apologies for keeping you waiting
[11:54] Ana (anastasia.yanwu): no worries 🙂
[11:54] Duraya: Chemsia is next on my list
[11:55] Yvette (yvette.arabello) is online.
[11:55] Chemsia: Time flys, and I have to go soon, but.. all in all.. I’m like many of you here,, interested in tools to try.. helping me expressing my feelings in the picture.. but also interested to learn and see what others do taking the pictures.. framing, the little detail intuition to have .. what is missing in the picture to add a more to the meaning of it all..
[11:55] Chemsia: done
[11:55] Ana (anastasia.yanwu): c
[11:56] Duraya: thank you – and Ana
[11:56] Ana (anastasia.yanwu): i’d try rotating the whole scene and pose to a 40 degree angle to be able to zoom in close and fill the frame more. Just a tip
[11:56] Ana (anastasia.yanwu): done
[11:56] Duraya: thank you
[11:57] Kika Yongho notes the tips 😛
[11:57] Chemsia: mm it’s a very interesting idea to start with.. thanks sharing Ana!
[11:59] Duraya: okay – so I think we are getting to an end and we will gladly review the chat and find a way to present you a few things next time
[11:59] Duraya: last chance for wishes and suggestions!
[12:00] Be Holder: Maybe add Affinity Photo to that list of tools. <3
[12:00] Duraya: okay – thank you Be
[12:01] Duraya: wow – thank you all for having made that so interesting
[12:01] Kika Yongho: Be can make the list
[12:01] Kika Yongho: 😀
[12:01] Kika Yongho nods in agreement with Duraya
[12:01] Duraya: we hope to meet you in a fortnight
[12:02] DaneAlbion: yes thank you everyone, that was interesting
[12:02] Duraya: Kika will send out the reminders 🙂
[12:02] Kika Yongho: Yes please join our board for the news!
[12:02] Kika Yongho: It was great to have you all here! 😀
[12:02] Josephine Delvalle: Claps hands for Duraya
[12:03] Duraya: and now I wipe the sweat from my forehead and let Kika and Arc take over 🙂
[12:03] Violette (violette.rembrandt): thank you all for all what you did share
[12:03] Be Holder: I applaud the lack of chaos
[12:03] ϮƗ Luᴄɪꜰᴇʀ ƗϮ (samael.morningstar): Nice meeting you all
[12:03] Chemsia: Thanks again for this introduction, Duraya, Kapann! and for hosting this meeting Kika! I need to part for now.. Thanks for the picture technique ideas already Ana 🙂 Ill try to make some test soon! Nice meeting you all!
[12:03] Kika Yongho: Thank you all for joining! See you in 2 weeks if you’re leaving!
